 A coordinate grid helps you locate points. 

You can locate a point using an ordered pair.

 


 

 

You can use an ordered pair of numbers to locate points on a grid.

In an ordered pair, the first number tells you to move to the right.
The
second number tells you to move up.

  • What ordered pair gives the location of point A?
Point A is:
1 space to the right of 0.
2 spaces up.
The ordered pair (1, 2) gives the location of point A.
  • What ordered pair gives the location of point C?
Point C is:
3 spaces to the right of 0.
3 spaces up.
The ordered pair (3, 3) gives the location of point C.

Remember: The order in which the numbers are given is important. 
The first number tells you to move to the right.
The second number tells you to move up.
