Look at the star pattern below. One star has 5 pattern pieces. If your pattern has 3 stars, how many pieces will it have in all? You can use a table to organize your data.

There are 5 pieces in a star. If your pattern has 3 stars, how many pieces will it have in all?

Example 2:
