We can use math to understand
the things around us.

We can estimate the number of objects in a certain area, to help us estimate the number of objects in a whole area.

If you counted 6 seeds in one area of a sunflower.
You could estimate the total number of seeds in the whole sunflower.

If you counted 10 pears in one area of a tree.
You could estimate the total number of pears in the whole tree.

If you counted 5 vehicles in an area of a parking lot.
You could estimate the total number of vehicles in the whole parking lot.

If you counted 7 flowers in an area of a field.
You could estimate the total number of flowers in the whole field.
