Place Value is the value given to the place a digit has in a number. Numbers are made up of digits in the same way that words are made up of letters.

are a fraction of a whole number.
You can write the tenths place value as a fraction by taking the number in that place and putting it over 10. For example 0.2 is equal to 2/10. You can write the hundredths place value as a fraction by taking the number to the right of the decimal point and putting it over 100. For example 0.67 is equal to 67/100. Example:
Think: The digit 3 is in the hundredths place. Its value is 0.03. The fraction for 0.03 is 3/100. The number 2.13 can be written as a fraction. The 2 is a whole number and 13 is out of 100. So the fraction is written 2 13/100.
