Do you ever have trouble
solving a problem?

Sometimes coming up with ways that don't work helps you to find a way that does work.

By eliminating choices, it is easier
to find a solution.

You are going to the movie theater, you know that the theater is
   on 2nd Street.

You don't know if you should turn left or right when you get to
   2nd Street.
   You decide to turn right.
You drive to the end of second street and see the lake in front
   of you.
You know that this was not the correct direction to turn.
You can eliminate turning right as a choice.
Next time you know to turn left.
You have figured this out by process of elimination.

You are playing hide and go seek with your friends, you know
that your friend might be hiding in 3 different spots.

You check behind the car and see that your friend is not hiding
   there.

You can now eliminate the car as the hiding spot.

There are now 2 places left where your friend might be hiding.

   3 - 1 = 2

You continue looking for your friend, since you know that he is
not behind the car, he must be behind a tree or behind the
   fence.

You check behind the fence and see that your friend is not
   hiding there.

You can now eliminate the fence as the hiding spot.
Now you know that there is only one spot left where your friend must
   be hiding!

2 - 1 = 1

 You are measuring your room.

You pick up a ruler to measure it, but decide the ruler is too
   small.

You decide that a yardstick is a better tool for measuring your
   room.

You have come to this decision by the process of elimination.

Remember: Making wrong choices can help to eliminate answers and help you to get the correct answer.
