Dritz Yardstick

A yardstick is used to measure objects longer
than 12 inches. 
A yardstick is 3 feet long.
 

Customary Measurements
 is another system of measurement used in the United States to describe how long, how heavy, or how big something is. 
inch (in.) 12 inches (in) = 1 foot (ft) An inch is about the length from the tip of the thumb to the first knuckle.  
foot (ft) 3 feet = 1 yard (yd) A foot is about the length of a piece of paper.
yard (yd) 36 inches (in) = 1 yard (yd) A yard is about the length of a baseball bat.

A Ruler is a Tool for Measuring Length

Ruler, 12, 1/16 and Millimeters, Natural Finish, Wood 
12 inches = 1 foot

3 rulers = 1 yardstick
36 inches = 1 yard

You can use a yardstick to measure any object bigger than 12 inches.

When measuring make sure you line the start of the yardstick with the beginning of the object.
