Skipping counting is another way of counting to larger numbers.

You can skip count when the number in each group is the same.

Number line

You can skip count using a number line to find the product.

1 group of 3

     2 groups of 3

 3 groups of 3

Explosion 2: Think
     3, 6, 9

So  3 x 3 = 9

Read: three times three equal to nine.

Example One:

To skip count by 1,000 you add 1,000 more each time.

For example:

0 + 1,000 = 1,000

1,000 + 1,000 = 2,000

2,000 + 1,000 = 3,000

3,000 + 1,000 = 4,000

Remember: You can skip count when the number in each group is the same.
