Exploring Time 

Time is measured in different units.

1 minute (min) = 60 seconds

1 hour (hr) = 60 minutes

1 day (d) = 24 hours

1 week (wk) = 7 days
1 month (mo) = about 4 weeks
1 year (yr) = 12 months
1 year = 365 days
1 leap year = 366 days
1 decade = 10 years
1 century = 100 years

Hours  To read a book  
Days From sunrise to sunset

 

Tell Time To The Minute

7:10

Read: 
10 minutes past 7
or
50 minutes to 8


24 hours = 1 day



                                                                   

Use A.M. for times beginning at 12:00 midnight and before 12:00 noon Use P.M. for times beginning at 12:00 noon and before 12:00 midnight.

 

Remember:

The units of time are seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years.
