Factors are the numbers multiplied to get a product.

                                   3    x    4     =   12
                                             factor   x   factor  =  product

The product of  1  and a number is that number.

6 x 1 = 6                1 x 6 = 6
17 x 1 = 17                1 x 17 = 17
43 x 1 = 43                1 x 43 = 43
238 x 1 = 238                1 x 238 = 238


Examples

3 bears, each with 1 book

3 x 1 = 3

                                                                             There are 3 books in all.

 

                        
                     
 5 apples, each with 1 stem

5 x 1 = 5
 

                                                                          There are 5 stems in all.

 

                           Remember: The product of  1  and a number
                                                is that number.       8 x 1 = 8
