When adding numbers
ALWAYS
line up place value columns.
hundreds tens ones

243 + 436=

hundreds	tens	ones
2	4	3
4	3	6

Then add each column
starting with the
ones
then....tens
then....hundreds

2 4 3
+4 3 6
6 7 9

484 + 313 =

                          4 8 4  add ones   4 + 3 = 7
                     + 3 1 3 add tens 8 + 1 = 9
                           7 9 7  add hundreds 4 + 3 = 7

484 + 313 = 797

         Add each column
         starting with the
