object or a part of a set.

		The rectangle is divided into 6 parts and 3 parts are pink.    Three-sixths is pink.
		The rectangle is divided into 4 parts and one part is blue.         One-fourth is blue.

Fractions can also show part of a group or part of a set.

		of the mushrooms are tall.
		of the bears are sitting.
		of the books are red.
