Elementary Test Prep Math 4 (Grade 3) Geometric Shapes

Shapes are Plane Figures that lie on a flat surface.
Shapes can be polygons → A closed plane figure made up of line segments.
A polygon with 3 sides	A polygon with 5 sides	A polygon with 8 sides	hexagon A polygon with 6 sides

A 4-sided figure with 4 right angles and opposite sides parallel and the same length

A 4-sided figure that has 4 equal sides and 4 right angles

A 4-sided figure that has exactly one pair of parallel sides

A 4-sided figure with 2 pairs of parallel sides and all sides the same length

A circle is also a plane figure. A circle is a plane figure in which all the points are the same distance from a point called the center.

You can use geometric shapes to help describe real-world objects. Example 1:
	Name the shape.
The flag is a rectangle. It is a 4-sided figure with 4 right angles and opposite sides parallel and the same length.

Example 2:
	Name the shape.
This sign is a triangle. It is a polygon with 3 sides.
Example 3:
	Name the shape.
The sign the boy is holding is an octagon. It is a polygon with 8 sides
