Graphs can be used to
organize information
and solve problems.

Let's look at some examples where problems were solved using graphs.

Riley school decided to organize an intramural sports program after school for 3rd graders.

They asked the students what
sports they played.

The P.E. teachers organized the data in a graph.

Based on the graph they decided they would play soccer and baseball.

The Cub Scouts sell pizzas to raise money for their camping trip.

Last year they recorded the number of pizzas they sold and recorded the information in a graph.

This year they are going to sell just one kind of pizza.

Based on the information in the graph they will sell just pepperoni pizzas.

The school store wants to order
t-shirts to sell in the store.

They can only order 2 colors so they wanted to find out what the 2 most popular colors would be.

They surveyed the students and recorded the information in a graph.

Based on the graph, they will order blue and purple t-shirts.
