The properties of multiplication can help you to multiply quickly and correctly.

Changing the order of the factors does not change the product.
 4 groups of 2  2 groups of 4  
4 x 2 = 8 2 x 4 = 8
 Commutative Property

 

3 groups of 6  6 groups of 3
3 x 6 = 18 6 x 3 = 18


Examples

    6 x 4 = 4 x 6

     8 x 5 = 5 x 8

6 x 4 = 24

 8 x 5 = 40

4 x 6 = 24

 5 x 8 = 40
