Topic Index | Grade 3 Math | Elementary Test Prep | StudyZone

Restating a problem helps you to plan how to find a solution.

Restate these problems in your own words.  Then solve.

  1.  Paul mowed 5 lawns last week
and 8 lawns this week.  How many
lawns did Paul mow in all?

  2.  Paul hopes to mow twice as
many lawns next week as he
mowed last week.  How many lawns
  does he want to mow?

  3.  Paul gets paid $10 for each
lawn he mows.  If he mowed 5
lawns last week, how much did he
  make?

  4.  Paul  wants to buy a bike that
cost $127.  If he has saved $95,
how much more money does he
  need for the bike?

  5.  Paul used some of his money to
buy a birthday present for his
mother.  The gift cost $18.90.  If
Paul paid with a twenty dollar bill,
  how much was his change?
