Problem Solving with Patterns

         Look For Number Patterns
       to help solve math problems.

Example #1:
What would you place in the box
to finish the pattern?

2

4

6

10

You should replace the with an 8 to finish the pattern, because you are counting by 2s.
2 more after 6 is
8.

Example #2:

What would you place in the box
to finish the pattern?

5

15

20

25

30

You should replace the with a 10 to finish the pattern, because you are counting by 5s.
5 more after 5 is
10.

Example #3:

What would you place in the box
to finish the pattern?

3

6

4

7

5

6

9

You should replace the with an 8  to finish the pattern, because you are
adding by 3 then subtracting by 2
.
In the pattern, 3 added to 5 would be
8.
