Read aloud the nursery rhyme Old Mother Hubbard
until the children are comfortable and able to repeat the rhyme
with you. Then share with the children that you can adapt this
rhyme. Have children suggest what could have been in Old Mother
Hubbard's cupboard. Make a large construction paper cupboard
with 3 shelves. (Or use a cupboard from your housekeeping area)
Place various objects on the cupboards shelves. Ask the
children to identify what Old Mother Hubbard found on the 1st,
2nd or 3rd shelves of the cupboard. |
