Related facts are addition and/or subtraction number sentences that are alike in some way.

For Example:  3+2=5 and 5-2=3 
These number sentences are related because they both have 3,2, and 5 in them.

Do you know another number sentence that would be related to them?

 

Knowing the answer to a number sentence will help you quickly figure out the answer to all related facts.

4+2=6

6-2=4

2+4=6

6-4=2

 

 Notice that the related facts have 2,4, and 6 in them.  Would 4+6=2 be a related fact?

Of course not.  4+6=10

 

1. Which fact is related to 3+5=8 
 

5+3=8    8+3=12     3+5=8    5+2=7

 
2. Which fact is related to 7+5=12
 

5+2=7   12+5=17   12-7=5   7-2=5

 
3. Which fact is NOT related to 4+5=9
 

9-5=4  5-4=1  5+4=9    9-4=5
