We can see Math all around us:

When you are at the grocery store
When you are playing a game with friends
When you make cookies with Mom
When collecting cans with your Little League team

Your mother sends you to the store to buy a loaf of bread. Each loaf of bread costs $1.99. How many loaves of bread would you be able to buy if she gave you $10?

               one loaf of bread $1.99

             estimate:  $2.00 for each loaf

 $2.00 + $2.00 + $2.00 + $2.00 + $2.00 = $10.00

There are 5 twos in ten, so you could buy 5 loaves of bread.

During a kickball game at the park, the red team scored 7 runs and the yellow team scored 5 runs. Which team scored the greatest number of runs?

                       0      1      2     3     4     5     6         8

7 > 5   so, the red team won the game.

You and Mom are making holiday cookies.
    You need
3 cups of sugar for one batch. You need to double the batch. How many cups of sugar will you need?

To double the batch means to add 3 and 3.

                          3 + 3 = 6 cups of sugar

Your Little League team collected bottles and cans to raise money for new uniforms.  You collected 135 on Friday, 426 on Saturday, and 291 on Sunday.

Based on this data, which day do you think is the best day to go to collect cans and bottles for your next bottle drive?

Friday 135
Saturday 426
Sunday 291

The team collected the most bottles and cans on Saturday, so we could assume the best day to collect for the next time would be on a Saturday.
