When comparing
two numbers,
using a
greater than (>)
or less than (<)
sign
can help to order the numbers. |
Remember to always
read
the number sentence from left to right
|
47 >
41
Say:
"47 is greater than
41" |
26 <
32
Say:
"26 is less than
32" |
|
16 >
8
Say:
"16 is greater than
8" |
54 <
82
Say:
"54 is less than
82" |
One way to remember
what sign is what:
Think
of the 'less than' sign ( < )
as looking like a tipped "L"
&
The "mouth" of
either sign
always goes towards
the GREATER NUMBER
28
23
18
35

Remember:
Always read the two
numbers being compared
from left to right,
and the 'mouth' of the sign always
goes towards the larger number.
