An exciting and informative resource in which students can pick websites to learn about the geography of the United States is http://www.nps.gov/learn/grgozone/grgozone.htm. This site  is filled with information, interactive games, pictures, and activities all about our National Parks in the United States.

Some examples of the sites they will find on deserts are

  • Mojave National Preserve Read about a pair of desert cousins and share their adventures in the Mojave Desert.

  • Joshua Tree National Park What do Rangers do? Find out here. This page was created by kids Learn about miners and homesteaders, Native Americans and the way plants have adapted to the desert conditions.

  • White Sands National Monument Why is the sand here white? What makes sand dunes move? What is it like to live in this environment? Check out these fun fact sheets for the complete story.

  • Cape Lookout National Seashore Here you'll find information about the plants, animals and landscapes at Lookout National Seashore, and about the shells you might see if you visit. The sea turtles are here too!

  • Golden Gate National Recreation Area Did you ever wonder what it's like to work in a park? Well, here's your chance. See if you can win the "Battle for the Dunes" an interactive game that challeneges you to use speed and knowledge to overcome an invading plant species. These dunes need your help!
