Lewis Hine was a photographer in the early 1900's. He worked for the National Child Labor Committee, an organization that tried to bring about reform, by outlawing child labor. Through the use of Hine's photographs, the National Child Labor Committee tried to persuade voters and legislators to pass stricter child labor laws. His photographs showed children working long hours in factories, mills, mines, farms and on street corners. They captured the hardships children faced, and the unhealthy and dangerous conditions under which they were working.
