An excellent interactive website for mapping European migration and settlement in our state of New York is:
http://www.geoamericas.com/view_maps/standards_organization.asp#us_era_1
By selecting the Flash Interactive button on:
Expansion of European Settlement 1650 - 1800 the viewer may see different groups of settlers who came to New York and the United States at 50 year intervals from 1650-1800.  The viewer may trace the migration of the English, French, Dutch, and Spanish during these time periods. These maps may be viewed separately in layers, or altogether.

Outline maps of the United States, the Northeast Region, or the 13 British Colonies (no labels), or  may be copied and printed from the website http://www.eduplace.com/ss/maps/historical.html

Using these two sites together students may complete their own migration/settlement maps assignments.
