The PBS Kids Democracy Project's "Inside a Voting Booth," allows students to learn about the difference one vote can make in an election. By stepping into a voting time machine, they will learn when different groups (African Americans, Native Americans, women, and 18 year olds) were first allowed to vote. A fun activity for students while visiting this site, is being able to express their views on the importance of issues such as the environment and education. After "casting their vote" on these issues, students may print out a "future voters card," a voting certificate which will tell them in what year they will be eligible to vote. The website, http://www.pbs.org/democracy/kids/ , is an informative and enjoyable resource for any unit on government.
